Ginger Tea

Revitalize with a refreshing cup of ginger tea. If you are in need of some increased energy as well as a boost to your immune system, then brew a cup of warm ginger Tea.

Ingredients

200ml (8fl oz) of Water
2/3 teaspoons of dropthejuice Ginger
2 teaspoons of Honey or Maple Syrup

Method

Add 3 teaspoons of dropthejuice ginger into a cup of hot water and sweeten with honey or maple syrup; or if you prefer add a hint of lemon juice.

Ginger Salad

This zesty ginger and celery salad dressing will perk up any green salad and is quick and easy to make.

Ingredients

5 teaspoons of dropthejuice Ginger
200ml (6fl oz) Olive Oil
175ml (6fl oz) Cider Vinegar
60ml (2fl oz) Balsamic Vinegar
Salt & Pepper to taste
Maple Syrup to taste
1 teaspoon of Light Soy Sauce
½ Medium Onion or 85g (3oz), finely chopped
3 Large Garlic Cloves, crushed
2 tablespoons of fresh Lemon Juice
2 sticks of Celery thinly sliced

Method

Mix all ingredients together. Refrigerate well before serving

Ginger Cake

A scrumptious, light, warm and spicy ginger cake – you will convince yourself that one slice is never enough.

Ingredients

175g (6oz) Margarine or Unsalted Butter, at room temperature
175g (6oz) Muscovado or Caster Sugar
2 Large Eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
2 tablespoons of Black Treacle
3 tablespoons of dropthejuice Ginger
225g (8oz) Self Raising Flour
100g (3½ oz) of Sultanas or Raisins (optional)

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Grease and line the base of a 20cm (8in) round cake tin.
  • Whisk together in a bowl the margarine or butter, muscovado or caster sugar until light and creamy.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the 2 large eggs and a teaspoon of vanilla extract then add to the mixture.
  • Fold into the mixture the black treacle and dropthejuice ginger.
  • Lastly fold in the self-raising flour, add any of the optional ingredients.
  • Pour into the tin and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Cool in the tin for 10 minutes and then turn out onto a serving plate.

Aromatic Ginger Tea

Winter can cause us all to feel a little under the weather, with feelings of stress and sluggishness. This remarkable winter warmer is delightful, warm and cosy, especially delicious this time of the year.

Ingredients

200ml (8fl oz) of Milk
2 teaspoons dropthejuice Ginger
Ground Cinnamon or Nutmeg

Method

Add the milk into a small saucepan along with the dropthejuice ginger and gently warm.

Remove from the heat and sweeten with honey, maple syrup or cane sugar. Sprinkle with a hint of nutmeg or cinnamon.

Ginger Shortbread

The waft of ginger shortbread in a warm kitchen is divine. With just a hint of ginger these biscuits are exquisite with a cup of tea.

Ingredients

115g (4oz) Butter or Margarine, room temperature
55g (2oz) Caster Sugar
2 tablespoons of dropthejuice Ginger
175g (6oz) Plain Flour

Method

  • Mix the butter or margarine, sugar and dropthejuice ginger until the mixture is light and creamy.
  • Add the flour and mix to form a soft dough, using your hands. Wrap in cling film (plastic wrap) and refrigerate for an hour.
  • Preheat oven to 190OC/375OF/Gas 5. Grease baking trays.
  • Turn dough onto a clean lightly floured surface. Using a rolling pin, roll to about 1cm to 3/4 inch in thickness.
  • Cut out your shapes; re-roll any left-over dough if necessary.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and firm. Cool for a few minutes on the tray, then transfer to cool onto a wire rack.

Ginger and Butternut Squash

Smooth, sweet, warm and spicy.

Ingredients

150g (5oz) chopped Onion
3 Cloves of Garlic
2 tablespoons of Olive Oil or Vegetable Oil
700g (1½lb) Butternut Squash & Sweet Potatoes (optional)
90ml (4 tablespoons) dropthejuice Ginger
1 teaspoon of Ground Nutmeg
1 teaspoon of salt and pepper
900ml (1½ pts.) Organic Vegetable Stock
Garnish: Crème fraîche or Cream, Chives and Nutmeg

Method

  • Gently heat the olive oil or vegetable oil and stir fry the chopped onions and crushed garlic cloves for 3-4 minutes covered, do not brown.
  • Add the butternut squash, sweet potatoes and dropthejuice ginger, along with the nutmeg. Season lightly with salt and black pepper. Cover and cook for an additional 10 minutes turning occasionally to prevent browning.
  • Add the vegetable stock, bring to the boil and simmer for 20 minutes or until the squash is tender.
  • Puree the soup in a blender or processor on a low speed. Reheat to serve. Garnish with crème fraiche or cream. Sprinkle with nutmeg.

Lemon/Lime Ginger Beer

With a healthy dose of ginger, Easy Lime/Lemon Ginger Beer is good for you, a refreshing drink worth packing into any picnic basket.

Ingredients

200ml (8fl oz) of Sparkling Water
3 teaspoons of dropthejuice Ginger
2 teaspoons of Acacia Honey or Maple Syrup
2 teaspoons of Lime or Lemon Juice
Sprig of Mint

Method

Squeeze juice from a Lime or Lemon into a glass. Add the Acacia Honey or Maple Syrup and dropthejuice Ginger, give it a good stir. Slowly pour the Sparkling Water and mix well. Chill until ready to use. Add a sprig of mint.


Fruit Salad

A refreshing fruit salad, macerate with any of the syrups in our range:

Ingredients

Prepare:

1 pear, peeled, cored and diced
1 apple, cored and diced
1 mango, peeled and diced
1 cup of seedless grapes, halved
10 strawberries, halved
1 banana, sliced
Add 3 tablespoons dropthejuice Ginger Syrup

Method

Place all of the fruit into a mixing bowl. Add dropthejuice syrup of your choice and gently mix to coat.

Breakfast Smoothie

Ingredients

240ml/8fl.oz. Milk, Natural Yoghurt or Juice!
50g/2oz Rolled Oats
1 Banana (Optional)
250g/9oz Strawberries
1 tablespoon of dropthejuice Ginger
1 tablespoon of Honey or Maple Syrup

Method

Place all of the Ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.

Ginger Porridge

A delicious twist on an old classic - the ultimate comfort food with added zing. Start your day with the best porridge you’ll ever taste.

Serves 1

Ingredients

1 cup Milk
1 medium Banana (cut in slices)
2 teaspoons dropthejuice Ginger juice
½ cup quick cooking Oats
Topping
2 tablespoons chopped Dates
2 tablespoons of Granola
½ teaspoon Butter
½ teaspoon Brown Sugar, Honey or Maple

Method

Melt butter in microwave (8 seconds) or in a pan and combine all topping ingredients. Set aside. In small saucepan add milk, ginger juice, and slices of banana. Crush the banana with a fork or potato crusher. Bring milk to a boil and add oats. Cook for one minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Sprinkle topping over porridge and serve.

Ginger Porridge

Packed with vitamins, antioxidants and intensely rich in vitamin A (Beta Carotene), this notable blend of melon, carrot and ginger is utterly appetizing. Makes 200mL (7 fl oz)

Serves 1

Ingredients

250g (8oz) Cantaloupe Melon (or any Melon)
1 Lime
125g (4oz) Organic Carrots
1-2 teaspoons dropthejuice Ginger juice

Method

Peel and deseed the melon and cut flesh into cubes. Peel the lime. Wash the carrots.
Juice the carrots with the melon, lime and Ginger juice.

Pour and serve.

Ginger Popcorn

A healthy way to snack

Popcorn in its pure form is healthy and nutritious. It is beneficial in vitamins and minerals, calories, as well as protein.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon of Canola (you can substitute with sunflower of vegetable oil)
100g (3.5oz) of Organic Popcorn
45ml (2 tablespoons) of dropthejuice Ginger & Vanilla syrup
100g of either chopped mixed nuts (Optional)

Method

  • Using a large pan with a lid, heat the oil. Try adding a couple of the kernels, when they pop add the remaining kernels.
  • Shake the pan over the heat, until the popping stops. Carefully remove the lid just in case the popping has not finished.
  • Add together the popcorn and dropthejuice Ginger & Vanilla Syrup (for a stronger flavour drop more in!) - mix well, add mixed nuts.
